Pros

Weekends off, outside sales calls, company truck, co-workers (not upper management), base salary is okay, training, vendor expos, daytime work hours.

Cons

Upper management can be disrespectful, the use of threats to "motivate" sales, "cookie cutter" approach to setting sales goals without taking into account the current market of the territory.

Pros

-Discounts are a benefit if your a gear head, fastener prices are great for employees, not so much everything else. -Quick days, you will always be busy -Other employment options, Since you work with so many different companies, you are putting your skills on show for other employers, I was offered five different jobs while just behind the counter -While some may not appreciate it, I enjoyed having to call vendors for P/A. Being from west coast, getting to call the EC and be able to say I spoke to people from six states in a day was kinda fun. -Frieght, Blue Global is actually pretty effective, minus any IHUB mistake

Cons

-Expectations, sales goals are out of sight. Unless a branch has exclusive rights to plants and mills, you wont hit goal. -Hours, read any other post, its a recurring theme, too many hours, not enough pay, and for the most part, those hours are all understaffed. -Prices, I felt like an A*%hole telling people certain prices. Their markup structure is shameful. Ask any employee who had to endure the customers reaction to certain quotes, being put down by mill workers and not being able to say anything back is just the highlight of my days *scarcasm*

Pros

If you work on your own and make sales, most managers will leave you alone. Outside sales you can leave the store which is nice.

Cons

They want you to sacrifice you life. 50plus hours a week is expected. A min of 50 hours is expected for under 30k a year. It's not hard labor, but you are not considered a "team" player if you don't give 55hours a week. Get there at 7am and leave at 5:30pm. You are also expected to give up a weekend saturday every once and a while to help other stores move or whatever. no pay for that.
