Pros

predictable schedule, routes stay the same. Nice trucks, not a 10 year old truck with a million miles on it, in the fleet. They take care of their equipment. They deliver their own product to their own stores, no third party contract here (yet) . Vacations can be split up, we didn't have to take an entire week off when we only needed a couple days off.

Cons

PAY, a monthly salary for a truck driver is rediculous, most salaries are based on a 40 hour a week job, and we all know drivers work in excess of 50-70 hours a week. Management won't hear out complaints, it's the old see no evil hear no evil at this place.

Pros

I make over $70,000 a year working in a store but I earn every penny and then some. That is the only one.

Cons

Long hours Conflicting goals between the branches and national accounts You will never have a sense of accomplishment for longer than 15 minutes Too much is expected out of employees Employees are spread so thin they can only put about 50% effort into each responsibility Never will you get a raise in base salary Fastenal gets sued and decides to pay all managers a minimum of $50k per year. On the surface this looks good but when dig deeper, its just a reward for under performing, loss producing stores. If you busted your butt to earn the $50k on your own your store is doing $80 grand per month. Now you can do $6 grand a month and have no experience and make the same amount. And we wonder why people quit.
