Pros

Co-workers are pleasant. Training program is excellent. Learn what you can and go to work for one of your customers.

Cons

"Growth through customer service" and "decentralized decision making" are the preached basis for Fastenal's success, yet high profit margins and micro-management are the reality. The result is overpriced products that fuel the Nascar program and agitated employees trying to make a commission-based pay on low sales. The inside joke is that they hire 24-year-olds for $24k to work for 24 months.

Money and no fun

Pros

Money, money, and more money. the only good thing about the company.

Cons

Long 12 or more hours, some workers slack off and you get blamed for it. a bit of a learning curve to memorize where everything is at when sorting and loading trucks, bad working environment where people are cliqued up and few people help each other out, belts stop working frequently making work hours longer, no work life balance, and managers leave left and right in shipping.
