Pros

FDM provides relevant training for the work you'll be doing on site. I'm coming from a finance background and the material they use for IT training is very easy to understand and on point. The trainers are knowledgeable and take their time to make sure you understand the material.

Cons

If you have experience in your field and good understanding of different programming languages (such as Java, VBA, SQL), you are probably better off if you apply to the actual companies on your own.

Pros

It is easy to get into, though, considering the practices of the company I doubt this will help many jobless people.

Cons

STAY AWAY from this company. It sells dreams to 'consultants' it employs (that don't ever become realities) and acts as a recruitment agency with the intent of using you for their own profitable gain. The company is easy to get into as they want you to join their training scheme with the ability to blackmail you for the £20,000 cost of it if you decide to leave. You can't leave the company until 2 years of service - with or without them finding any work for you. You can be stuck without a job going into the FDM office (purely to avoid getting fined for the training). You have to wait 90 days to get a job before they let you free - they don't make leaving easy though. Training is substandard and not worth the cost. Get a masters instead, at least then you know there will be standards set and a fair course to join. Not a shady training scheme like this one.

Pros

You might get a temp placement with a credible company doing something that you want to do which might add to your resume

Cons

You might train (yourself) for 6-9 months and get no placement - this is not uncommon You might train for 6-9 months and get a temp placement doing something you don't want to do - I repeat you have no control once you are at FDM. THe £20,000 serves to keep you doing exactly what you are told regardless of whether it is in your best interests Some of the placements are a joke - doing crap jobs for crap companies No career advancement Phoney synthetic smiley environment
