Pros

Good clients that look good on a Grad CV. Makes going into big firms a lot easier

Cons

No progression, compared to being on a grad scheme at the actual client, there is no training, progression, rotation (unless you get discontinued by the client), (very very unlikely) option to convert to a permanent staff in the client office after 2 years. Unreasonable (£14-30k) break clause if you decide to leave within 2 years of joining. No pay during the 2/3 months training. Essentially, in the eyes of FDM's clients, you are cheap and easy to hire a team. You have been hired to do a task and nothing more.

Pros

Fantastic opportunities Great career prospects with leading global organisations Industry relevant and standard training Overall, good organisation to start your career with

Cons

Unpaid training, but it worth it as you would be gaining free training and support throughout.

Good training, bad execution

Pros

The health insurance is great and there is a slight chance (minuscule) that you will be placed in a company that you actually enjoy working at in a good location. Training is paid and most of the trainers want you to succeed and are very helpful. The company culture is very relaxed even though there is a strict dress code. FDM throws fun boat parties every year and you get to meet the CEO from London. If you are flexible in relocation, you have a better chance to getting a position that you want. Otherwise if you want to stay in NYC...good luck.

Cons

Beware! When you start with FDM, you are forced to sign a 2-year contract with them that pays you WAYYY under the market value for your skills. This then affects your salary negotiations with future employers who don't want to "overpay" you. You are also bounded by a $30,000 penalty fee for the mediocre 4 month training you receive if you break your contract. Account managers are usually very cold and calculative. They see you as a way to make commission and don't care whether you're enjoying your placement or whether it's even in your field. If you are in the Development Stream, you might end up doing IT help desk support! It doesn't matter that it's not part of your career goals, FDM and the Account Managers get paid regardless. By that time, it will be too late because if you break the contract, you have a $30,000 'training fee' penalty!
