Pros

Good training, easy interview and they have some great clients. For those who really want to go into IT only, you will need to suck up a minimum of 2 years plus training with them.

Cons

Unfortunately, its all downhill from there. Beware a lot of other reviews are written by HR and Account Managers not the Consultants. -Whilst they have great clients, they often place you with clients/locations you don't want and worse still you can be placed in roles that you didn't even train. (many developers have ended up in testing or support roles and vice verse) -pay is terrible with no rises in the base salary since 2012 -Never speak to HR without a Union rep even if they just want a "friendly chat" -Having said that, once you are on site, FDM don't care about you except for chasing on your timesheets. -Pay negotiations outside of 2nd year are terrible, HR are always bullshitting about how these are calculated...every negotiation includes the phrase "I will need to raise a case"

Pros

Easily the best thing about FDM is the placement opportunities. All of my group got great placements in top, top companies. In a couple of years we'll not only be earning big salaries but, more-so, the exposure and "thrown in the deep end" aspects to being a consultant enable graduates to actually receive excellent experience. The sky really is the limit; when you get into the driving seat in a placement you've gotta forget the tight-pocketed FDM salary and instead focus on getting every inch of experience/exposure you can. The training is very good, the trainers are supportive and always willing to help. They are the only full time staff that seem to care about the graduates that come through.

Cons

FDM cares about making money off you. A lot. And that's pretty much all they care about. If you don't get placed before your training ends you have to come into the office to do "up-skilling". I.e. Be bored out of your mind in an extremely negative and downbeat environment. In this situation you have to keep your head up and at the end of the day you'll get there, it just takes time.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear that you rate the training highly, got a great placement and that you are enjoying the experience. I’m sorry to hear that you don’t believe the account managers care about you. All our employees are important to us and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can change this perception with you. Please come by my office or email me at andy.brown@fdmgroup.com so that we can discuss this further. Andy Brown – Group Commercial Director

Pros

Amazing opportunities such as top tier banks, government and top UK companies. The training adds a lot of value to your CV. Once you're on site the time spent training seems like a distant memory. Once your 2 years has finished you are in an extremely strong position for a new job or salary increase (nearly 2x in a lot of cases)

Cons

The training academy is extremely an extremely negative environment. No certainty of being placed, some are still in the academy weeks after they have finished training meaning you could be without pay for 4-6 months which is much more than the 2-3 you planned for.
