Pros
Flexible job if you can find good rides
Cons
Over the past 5 years the company has degraded significantly. At first it was a great way to put myself through school. Pay was transparent. Bonuses were transparent and they took about 20-30% NOW with every app update pay transparency goes away. They used to show exactly how much a surge was in heavy ride areas. If you made it there before the surge went away then you would still get the surge. Now they don’t tell you how much the surge is before you get there it only shows a purple area instead of an actual number figure and even when you’re offered a ride it only says surge. It could be $1 extra it could be $15 you have no way of knowing. Driver support lies and says that the change was made to help drivers even though an overwhelming amount of drivers have contacted support and let them know it’s hurting us. We could potentially and often are driving well out of the way for dollar bonuses. Also they now pocket over 50% of the payment. We used to know exactly how much the customer paid as it was in our earnings breakdown. Since they’re taking more there is no longer a breakdown at all. You’d never know unless you happen to stumble upon the topic with the customer. For instance, I was paid $39 for a 45 minute ride that supposedly had a surge bonus. The woman actually paid $83. When I contacted support they simply said fees may vary. Find something else. At this point you’ll be making under minimum wage working for this company after gas. By the time you consider wear and tear you just might be breaking even.
