Uber is an extremely frustrating place to work (The honeymoon period wears off pretty quickly). The company has the money and the brand to attract the best in terms of engineering but for whatever reason the product and engineering orgs leave so much to be desired (and I am not even in engineering!) All too frequently it seems the company runs into painful outages, bugs, broken tools, etc that negatively impacts employees and users.
Everything seems to be tested in production. The company doesn't know what a staging environment is.
