Cons
You have much less control over your personal/professional life while employed by the military than you would in a civilian job. The military promotes from within, but lacks the profit-driven performance aspect of the civilian sector, so the result is that many times promotion and your level of success is primarily based on luck and timing and less based on your actual performance in your job role.
