Pros

As a member of the Air Force, job satisfaction and relevance has never been an issue. Having the opportunity to lead men and women for the benefit of our country is the most appealing aspect of serving. The AF gives each service member the opportunity to grow as an individual both personally and professionally. The opportunity for travel is widely known and well deserved. I have been in the AF for less than 2 years and have traveled to more than 11 European nations while stationed in Germany. The fact that each member is given 30 days of leave(paid vacation) each year is a benefit most individuals do not enjoy in the civilian world, at least not early on.

Cons

In my opinion, there are not many downsides to being a member of the Air Force. That said, the most difficult aspect of serving would be the time spent away from home. In today's AF, you may be required to be deployed for as long as a year at a time.

Pros

Teaches you a trade while paying you. Social appreciation. Purpose. If you have no idea what you want to do with your life especially as far as a career goes, run to a recruiter. Regardless of whereever you come from a military career is your stepping stone into middle class and up living and career opportunity.

Cons

Every extra dollar you attempt to make beyond your rank will require more work than you will be paid to do. The real payoff monetarily you get from competing in the military will come in to play during your post life. Confidence, courage, accountability, etc are not standard attributes in people at all.
