Pros
If you want a job that you can commit to, that will give back as much as you put in, than the military is right for you. If you are also concerned about your education, have skills relating to or are interested in any technical field, than the Air Force is the right branch of service for you. The pay may not seem like a whole lot but once you factor in the free housing, food, medical care, and education you realize just what you are making. Once you sign up and complete basic training, the Air Force will take care of you. The only thing it asks in return is for you to take care of the Air Force. So, let's talk benefits. Yes, you get free housing, in the form of either on-base dormitories for single Airmen, on-base housing, or off-base housing which is paid for with your Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). You also get free food, either on-base at the dining facility (I have never eaten at a dining facility that made bad food), or off-base with your Basic Allowance for Sustenance (BAS). On top of that, you are encouraged to go to school, and your tuition is covered. Add in to that mix your basic pay and the fact that you don't really have any major expenses (maybe a car loan or a phone bill, but psssh), and you can see why people want to work in the military. Those aren't the only good things about it, though. Also consider the lifestyle the military offers. You are surrounded by other people from varying backgrounds, but who all have the same values and principles you do: integrity, service, excellence. The fact that you really never know where the Air Force might take you is also exciting. And on top of that, there are so many opportunities for fun and networking in the USAF community for you to take advantage of. You've just joined one of the largest, greatest networks on the planet, and every other person in the service is there for you, always. That is the feeling you get when you wear the uniform, and that, I would say, is the greatest reason to work for the US Air Force.
Cons
Of course, the military isn't for everyone. There will be a few people who don't like the responsibility, the structure, or the accountability that comes with a career in the Air Force. Every action you take is considered and judged. This can be a good thing, because you get regular feedback, but it can also be stressful. Being seperated from your family is another difficulty. Everyone in the Air Force is deployable, and you never know when you could be called for a few months in the desert. It happens. If you can accept it as a challenge, rise to the occasion, and do your best, you will become a better person for it. If you get stressed out and bogged down in your own regret, however, you will fail. There are people who just want normal jobs, where they can roll into work a few minutes late every day and no one cares; where the most challenging thing they have to deal with is a customer complaining about their food being cold; where they are safe, comfortable, and ultimately unimportant. This is not a job for those people. In this job, you are responsible for and are held accountable for your own actions. You can't be comfortable all the time. You can't be unimportant. That isn't even an option.
