Pros

-Great pay for nurses. -Excellent benefits: medical, dental, paid time off (30 days per year). -Lots of opportunity for school (with more service commitment of course). -Diversity in the workplace.

Cons

-Work long hours and will eventually spend many days-off doing non-nursing "extra duties." -Performance reports consist of made-up numbers and do not reflect what you actually do. -Once you attain higher rank, you will be pulled away from the bedside and into "leadership" positions that really have nothing to do with nursing. -You will work with some of the laziest people on the planet, who will figure the system out to get out of as much work as possible (Air Force wide problem). -If you are good at your job, more work will be given to you. -Constant turn-over of co-workers, training, and deployments.

Pros

Teaches you a trade while paying you. Social appreciation. Purpose. If you have no idea what you want to do with your life especially as far as a career goes, run to a recruiter. Regardless of whereever you come from a military career is your stepping stone into middle class and up living and career opportunity.

Cons

Every extra dollar you attempt to make beyond your rank will require more work than you will be paid to do. The real payoff monetarily you get from competing in the military will come in to play during your post life. Confidence, courage, accountability, etc are not standard attributes in people at all.
