Pros

Some very clever people, unfortunately none seem to have found their way into leadership positions.

Cons

TCS is an organisation that simply does as asked, but provides nothing in the way of thought leadership or challenge to customers. This kind of partnership is what customers actually want as part of shaping and delivering solutions and TCS is simply not equipped to deliver in this manner. It is no surprise that TCS cannot win transformation programmes without subcontracting to “proper” consultancies. TCS ferment chaos in how they operate in their accounts and their inability to think beyond simple instructions or the next transaction. As AI becomes more prevalent and automates the tasks they chiefly perform, they will become irrelevant. Their only USP is price and that is going to become increasingly difficult to push as automation increases. It is also the least diverse organisation I have ever worked in. Unless you are Indian and male, there is no prospect of building a career. HR are also disorganised and verging on dishonest. They recently decided to make a large number of consultants redundant (mostly non-Indian people unsurprisingly) and the manner in which it was handled was shocking. If this is how they choose to treat people, they will find it very hard to recruit anyone outside of India going forwards. Joining was a massive mistake and I would discourage senior SMEs of any kind from joining this chaotic organisation. Simply awful.

Pros

Large client base. Talented people, have "cracked the code" on offshoring development and support.

Cons

For anyone used to working in US-based firms, the culture and politics will be difficult to understand and navigate. Internal policies and systems focus on the offshore delivery center model. Roles in the US do not fit into that mold, and obtaining approvals for simple expenses can require weeks and insanely high approval chains given the size of TCS. I needed approval from a global division head (a CEO direct-report) just to pay for a short training course. Missions of different departments are not clearly defined, so overlap and conflict are common.
