Pros

Friendly work environment, love the team. Being VM is pretty fun, especially when I get to create my own looks or remerchandise an area. The pay is great. It’s good experience, especially if it’s your first leadership position. There are benefits available and a pretty nice set schedule, although you do have to work one night a week and every other weekend. Target is also very flexible about giving days off.

Cons

I do not always get a chance to do my own workload because I end up pushing truck or covering for other positions, sometimes several days a week. I don’t mind this, but I still have a large workload of my own and I feel like it often gets treated like it doesn’t matter that much, so I end up scrambling to finish and sometimes I simply can’t. Constantly revolving management, which can start to feel a bit overwhelming, because depending on my ETL/STL’s work style, there can be a shift in focus and morale in the entire store. Lack of freedom. We used to be able to dress mannequins and play around how we wanted. Now we must follow the book until the styles in it are gone.

Pros

If you are looking for a job that you’ll be a part of a fun team environment, have the ability to learn all about customer “guest” service, retail operations and sales, as well as merchandising even at entry level great opportunity. for such a large corporation I have been pleasantly surprised by how tight knit teams are. applying was okay, there were multiple steps (videos, assessments) but overall not too bad)., phone call and then video questions before hiring.

Cons

Pay isn’t great, but for the market it’s fair. Moving up involves a much larger increase in responsibilities and workload relative to the pay increase.
