Pros

Full benefits even for part time employees, shift differentials are decent, minimum starting wage is just about 14 dollars per hour, no cost to employee for uniforms, there is a union, there tends to be a lot of OT offered, if you are required to travel for work it's completely paid for and you get a stipend for food, lots of opportunities for advancement, very easy to transfer from one airport to another, and you can tell people you work for the Department of Homeland Security!

Cons

First and foremost you are dealing with the public and they think you are personally out to get them. Second staffing shortages are a daily occurrence and if they don't have volunteers to work OT you maybe be forced into mandatory OT. If a training class or meeting falls on your day off you will be forced into mandatory OT. Fourth you work every holiday unless you are lucky enough that it fell on your day off. Fifth do not expect to get weekends off! Starting out you have the middle of the week off. Sixth the majority of the shift hours suck; 4 am to 1230 pm, 1030 am to 7 pm(no chance starting out you will get this shift), 12 pm to 830pm, 3 pm to 12am. There are also split shifts 5 to 10 am (break for 2 hours) then 12 to 3 pm. Finally raises are very small if they happen at all, and if Congress can't decide on a budget you do not get paid but you still have to work or you will lose your job.
