Pros
Some great fellow workers. Company bonus and pension scheme. Free fruit available in the canteen.
Cons
Prior to commencing work all kinds of promises were made about opportunities within Siemens and how you'd be able to take on other roles. When it boiled down to it this wasn't true. They would sooner employ a new starter than let you move to a different role. Health and safety was very poor, although it was supposed to be a zero harm culture. I made several recommendations in good faith about things that needed implementing or changing (being NEBOSH qualified) I was chastised and labelled as a trouble maker. Some of things were changed (no thanks were given) others such as the safe working load labelling on the overhead cranes (a requirement under the LOLER regs) were not. No fire drills in over 8 month. New starters not even informed of muster points. Balsa wood (a recognised carcinogen) being cut on bandsaws with no extraction for months. Poor shifts created a poor work/life balance. Due to poor organisation I spent numerous 12 hour shifts literally doing nothing! Including nights!
