Pros

Food is great. Coworkers are nice. Everyone is laid back.

Cons

I am doing intern in Banco Santander for almost one year and I am leaving. Basically all interns have to do the same amount of work as full-time employees but with a salary of monkey. Your efforts will not be appreciated in this sinking boat no matter how hard you try. At least in my department, managers do no truly communicate with anyone and basically they are all well-paid politicians who will never tell you their true feelings and you cannot count on them to give you any sincere career advice. This might not be true, but it seems that all they want is to take advantage of the cheap labor and they cannot care less about people. People come and go all the time and turnover is surprisingly high. I strongly do not recommend those ambitious, those down-to-earth, and those getting hands dirty type getting on the boat.

Pros

Of all the companies I have worked for, Santander has had the strongest training program. The training was comprehensive, well-structured, and especially valuable for employees who are new to the banking industry. Additionally, Santander's ONE software is by far the most intuitive and user friendly banking platform I have used, making it easy to learn and navigate while supporting efficient daily operations.

Cons

Like most retail banking roles, there is a strong sales component. With fewer customers visiting branches due to online banking and ATMs, much of the day is spent making outbound calls to existing clients, trying to set appointments, and push products and services. While I understand the importance of sales in the industry, I personally felt there was significant pressure to prioritize sales goals over relationship building and client service, which I was not comfortable with.
