Pros

SAP has a very large pallet of applications and solutions to embrace and learn that can be enjoyable to sell. The benefits are above average and the larger percentage of employees are talented and a pleasure to work with. SAP is recognized as an industry leader and certainly adds weight to most resumes. The company is flexible (depending on yoiur role) towards home-based ofices and provides additional perks for those who are based of corporate offices.

Cons

The company is almost too big. When strategies come out for a given year it takes the better part of the year to implement and then it changes the following year. Be careful about the kind of position you seek as field positions compensations are based on point systems for the close of sales. This would be fine but there is a tendency for Solution Captains to protect their buddies. There have been cases where a solution engineer worked 90 % of an opportunity and should have gotten numerous "points" but at the last minute the solution captain adds other names to the list that dilute the points causing the person, that did most of the work, to be slighted on their compensation. Internal systems for processes are a nightmare an is one of the largest complaints amongst filed personnel.

Pros

I really liked my role at SAP. After being a cloud Customer Success Manager supporting strategic clients for several years, I moved into a group doing digital customer outreach including producing newsletters, release enablement, webcasts, documentation, event registrations, etc. Salary and bonuses were good, no complaints there.

Cons

No real cons for the job that I was in, except that our group was eliminated by the corporate restructuring and reduction in workforce in North America in 2025. I would have loved to stay but unfortunately we probably showed up on a restructuring spreadsheet somewhere and it was determined that our services were no longer needed. We off-boarded most of our work to other existing employees (who already had full time jobs), which felt unfair to them, but that is how it shook out.
