There are so many. I wouldn’t recommend my enemy to work here. It will completely drain you and break you down to the point you are a mindless drone -strong bias against any non-Spaniard. There have been several meetings in Houston where I’ve heard “oh we need to speak in English” in an tone that comes off as annoyed. The expats often receive more recognition and professional growth than others -headquartered in Madrid with a large disconnect to the other business units. Decisions are made to benefit themselves instead of the business as a whole -every year there is a shuffling of directors and executives like its musical chairs. People are put in charge of divisions they have never worked before. So you never get a sense of direction or a fixed plan. Just as you get used to a strategy, it changes again. There are several knee-jerk reactions by leadership that are not good for business -since upper management always changes priorities and plans, you are in a perpetual fear of losing your job or not knowing what to do. It makes an extremely toxic work environment where everyone is for themselves and will throw you under the bus the first chance they get. -any management position in the US that opens is usually filled with an expat. If not, it’s one of the local favorites that seem to get promoted every year. There is also a preference for the legacy talisman employees. You would think Repsol was the one bought out by talisman with the amount of current managers from there. You will essentially be placed in a box with no chance of movement -information is treated like its top secret. You find out more news about Repsol externally than you do internal. Most people will hoard information and only give out a small piece at a time so they stay relevant in the company. It makes it very difficult to get your job done. -systems and processes are routinely put in place by Madrid without any input from end users. Often the new process is in addition to those currently in existence and makes work very inefficient. You will spend more time duplicating information and being caught up in processes than you do actual work. But new ones keep coming as Madrid personnel have them as their yearly goals and just want to get it done to check the box. No consideration for how it impacts the business.
