Pros

You get public exposure if you work on the checkouts and alot of people recognise you even when you didnt know them.. its fun dealing with customer and taking cash and you get to organise the store by tidying the clothing Alot of the colleagues are very helpful and this job provides excellent social interaction as you meet other young girls and boys and maybe even date them.

Cons

The biggest drawback is that you cant take even a single day off in november/december even if you are sick. Secondly, you only get 3month contract initially which will not be extended most of the times. (especially if you are on a student visa) The supervisors will keep a keen eye on you and will dig out all of your negative actions and report them to the HR manager so if you make mistakes... you are going down, even if they were minor mistakes. The supervisors never highlight anything good so try to please them with gifts or something... so you can to avoid them targeting you. Last but not the least... Primark blabers about social responsibility but their suppliers are involved in genocide, child labour, exploiting the poor in third world countries and its suppliers have unsafe work conditions for their workers

Pros

You get lots of PTO up front as a part timer and can gain flex hours overtime. Get a 50 cent raise every six months.

Cons

Was told during onboarding that if a Christian comes into the store spreading the gospel, I have to kick them out. This includes the mention of the Jesus without the church invite. Managers claim its rude and if a customer does it, they get booted. Faced harassment from a customer and management didn't let me switch too a different department. Extremely high turnover rate and managers don't replace them, making your job more stressful during peak hours. Hard to use PTO. Little to no training. Too many bachelor and master holding part timers who get lucked out of moving up in the company. Managers give some people no task while pilling on multiple tasks on one person. Too many managers to deal with (and usually never find) and the full timers make you do the dirty work while they "unpack boxes". Its a pro-LGBT anti christian company. If they want to be pro-LGBT, than more power to them. But anti-Christian is discriminatory and unnecessary.
