Pros

- Attracts a buzz of young/neurodiverse employees. - Pay isn't minimum wage (but could be a lot better) - Large company so plenty of places to laterally change role internally.

Cons

- Terrible communication from higher management - Would always be late to pay overtime - No concrete HR department in company that despretely needs it - You get company shares but you can very rarely sell them on

Octopus Energy Response

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review about your experience when working at Octopus. We appreciate your feedback. We try to ensure our Energy Specialists are paid fairly through benchmarking salaries frequently. For those who want to take on more responsibility, we have the skills academy and managers are able to reward fantastic performers too. Octopus has grown a lot in the last year and sometimes it can be challenging to connect and communicate with everyone in the team. We’ve now got a big open space in the Brighton office so everyone can attend the weekly company meeting together, and we’re running drop-ins for the team to meet and ask questions to senior leaders. You’re right that we don’t have a HR department in the traditional sense, but all leaders are trained on how to best support their teams. Team members should feel empowered to reach out to any leader in the business and have the avenues to do so if they’re not happy with anything they see or hear happening. Thanks again for your feedback. Erin Bullions Head of Operations Octopus Energy

Pros

Some members of the company are the best people you’ll ever meet.

Cons

Genuinely a complete mess. Incompetent, passive aggressive leadership that repeatedly makes both poor and confusing company decisions. I have some absolutely crazy stories from things I’ve witnessed here. There’s things that are so bizarre and dysfunctional, they belong in an alternate reality.
