Pros
I’ve been with Octopus for around five years, starting out as a smart meter installer. In my second year I began installing EV chargers, which allowed me to broaden my skills and take on additional responsibilities. Over the past year I’ve continued to progress by upskilling to install three-phase meters, which has been another great step in developing my career. I’ve genuinely enjoyed my time working for Octopus. I’ve had the chance to work with a lot of great people along the way, including supportive colleagues, helpful managers, and many friendly customers. The team environment has always been positive and it’s made the job enjoyable day-to-day. Overall, I’m grateful for the opportunities to grow, learn new skills, and work with such a good group of people, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop further in the future.
Cons
One area that could be improved is communication at times, particularly around changes to processes or scheduling, as clearer updates can help engineers plan their days more efficiently. Travel time between jobs can also sometimes be challenging, especially when appointments are spread out or further apart. Factoring travel time more consistently into scheduling would help engineers manage their day more effectively and reduce unnecessary pressure. There can also occasionally be challenges with workload planning and logistics, but overall I’ve found that colleagues and managers are supportive when these issues arise. My overall experience has still been very positive.
