Pros

Close to home. Good benefits for a job close to home. But do you need benefits?

Cons

Unbelievable lack of communication. You will be in the dark. If you’re not a nurse, you will get treated like a doormat. If you are, you’ll be paid well enough to be treated like one. No sick time off, and don’t ask to actually use the pto you bank, and don’t ask off to see the doctor so you can actually use the benefits you pay for. Parking is a nightmare and management actively tickets $25 fines. Don’t try to climb a ladder - you won’t be approved because they can’t replace you. They’ll find 799 reasons to keep you right where you started. Patients come from all over because the hospital is newer. Most are primary care seekers. Constant complaining from patients about wait times. No way to keep up with all the multiple orders of nonsense. Cafeteria is useless, expensive and items frequently expired. Don’t look for food after 4pm.

Pros

I have been privileged to work for Northside Hospital for the past five years, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. During my tenure, I have benefited from the organization's commitment to employee growth through its annual internal promotion policy, which has allowed me to advance within my current department. One of the aspects I value most is Northside's support for work-life balance and professional development. While working here, I was able to begin my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program from the ground up and am on track to graduate in December 2026. The flexibility and encouragement provided by the organization have played a significant role in helping me pursue my educational goals while continuing to contribute as an employee. I was a full-time employee for most of my career with the organization and recently transitioned to part-time status to accommodate the increased demands of my nursing program. The support and understanding shown by management throughout this process have reinforced my appreciation for the company's employee-centered culture. I am grateful for the opportunities, professional growth, and support I have received over the past five years.

Cons

None that I can think of right now

Pros

Northside Hospital is a reputable healthcare organization with excellent opportunities for career growth and advancement. The pension plan is a standout benefit and adds significant long-term value to the overall compensation package.

Cons

Career advancement opportunities can sometimes feel influenced by internal relationships and networking. Additionally, HR processes may move slowly, particularly when extending offers to new hires or processing employee promotions, which can lead to delays in hiring and career progression. The PTO structure may also be a drawback for some employees, as holiday time off is deducted from PTO balances rather than being provided as separate paid holidays, reducing the amount of discretionary time off available throughout the year.
