Pros

The company as a whole seemed great about corporate responsibility and community engagement. Good medical and dental.

Cons

The Phoenix office cannot keep attorneys on staff. In just over a year, the office of 10 attorneys has lost at least 9 attorneys. The caseloads exceed 70-80 actively litigated files. An attorney with less than one year of experience was tasked with a jury trial having never before tried a case without any mentoring or guidance. There is insufficient time to work files properly. When I was hired, I was told the billable hours requirement was 1,850. In early 2021, our leadership told us the standard had always been 1,950. All of the attorneys balked at these 100 additional hours none of us were hired to work without a corresponding increase in pay. Attorneys are working 12 hours or more a day to stay on top of caseloads. Pay at other insurance companies is substantially higher for in-house counsel and caseloads are substantially lower. Leadership in the Phoenix office casts blame for lost cases and the lack of time to work cases properly on the attorneys and fails to take responsibility for the environment that will almost certainly cost someone a bar complaint. I would urge any attorney to continue searching for a different company.

Pros

Work from home, only in office twice a month

Cons

-Extremely high paced -Too many claims. Caseload is way too big. -Super stressful having to deal with customers. A lot of them don’t understand insurance or what their policy covers so you will constantly deal with pissed off uninformed insureds -metrics are unrealistic and unattainable. You need to have a 98% answer rate but at the same time you have a million cases and people calling you constantly so this is impossible to achieve. On top of that you have to actually document and determine liability. -Awful work life balance
