Pros

-Friendly colleagues who try their best despite ongoing changes -Low pressure on business performance; expectations stay the same even when results don’t -Bonus remains generous because the company is a mutual

Cons

-Restructuring has been ongoing for years with no clear end -Feels like nothing is moving -Retail and Commercial operate like completely separate companies, in some cases competing for the same products -Recently, a product with strong performance in Retail was moved under the Commercial licence with new roles advertised externally instead of developing internal staff -We don't know what is expected from insurance product business performance. Little discussion about improving status quo. -Very little transparency: teams often hear about changes through rumours, not leaders -Several major partners exited in the past year, adding even more uncertainty. They went to local competitors ! -Morale is low as people expect more layoffs or divestments across Asia -Hard to understand long-term strategy for Singapore as priorities keep shifting -Systems, claims and operations remain very manual despite repeated “transformation” initiatives -Internal movements are rare; even strong internal talent is overlooked in favour of external hires in unclear roles

Pros

Work from home, only in office twice a month

Cons

-Extremely high paced -Too many claims. Caseload is way too big. -Super stressful having to deal with customers. A lot of them don’t understand insurance or what their policy covers so you will constantly deal with pissed off uninformed insureds -metrics are unrealistic and unattainable. You need to have a 98% answer rate but at the same time you have a million cases and people calling you constantly so this is impossible to achieve. On top of that you have to actually document and determine liability. -Awful work life balance
