I worked in a public school as part of a cultural exchange program under the ministry of education and culture. My experience working as a foreigner in Spain was well-organized, well-supported, and a great learning opportunity.
Overall great experience!
- Government job means GREAT benefits. You'll be taken care of.
- Good hierarchy and organization
- Clear role description and well-communicated expectations
- Ability to share culture and language is rewarding
- Learning how to work in another country will make you more culturally competent, changing your life in ways you never expected.
- Unparalleled work-life balance
Cons
- Process - while there was good organization in getting set up abroad with a Visa and insurance, the internal process for the public school program could be improved. I'd love to see more opportunities to measure impact and share effective methodologies across schools.
- Cross-communication. It would be good if schools can work together more to develop approaches that work and share experiences of auxiliares to continue improving the program.
