Pros
depending on how the revenue for the day is going it can be a lax workplace as like most places the company only cares about making money and if they are not making money it is not a good environment. Additionally most people hired at JYSK are good people who I made connections with. -Clean working environment, -not to stressful on most days
Cons
-Lower then average Salary for management -Unpaid lunches, -44 hours a week for peanuts more responsibilities then most work places. (bonuses annually are 1% of increase in sales year over year for assistant managers and 2% for the store manager. as well as quarterly bonuses based on last years numbers same percentages) More then likely though you wont get a bonus due to the recession because the stores are normally dead. Averaging 2-10 customers in an hour. So your salary is your pay [don't expect bonuses they will upsell it to you on your application]. You probably wont get anything and if you do it will be a few 100 dollars every 3 months if your store is doing well. You will make around 40k annually which is roughly 10k lower then most other work places for management. Micromanaged at the highest level - if you don't make more sales in a given day and your UPT are low which you can't always control you can only upsell so much, You need to send a personal email to the DM cc the DMT and your store manager and explain how and why you didn't reach those numbers. Everyday. Mostly Hires Internationals - throwing out Canadian Resumes. (sad to see but true and happening all around the country cutting corners trying to save money) Pressure from higher ups to give good company reviews through Mandatory employee satisfaction forms. then they sit you in a room and review it as a team so there is an obligation to not write anything bad about management because everyone will know you wrote it. No recognition for your work or the sacrifices you make in your personal life for the business. Lax Security on property. JYSK is a blame game, if you see something wrong or something that could potentially be wrong and don't tell someone the responsibly falls on you. upper management never closes and puts it on the assistant managers. I closed 4 of my 5 shifts going home at 10pm every night. That's my bedtime Zzzz Shifts are usually from 930am-730pm morning shifts or 11:30am - 9:30pm Every minute of your day is micromanaged -If you are a warehouse worker you are more then likely alone and will have to carry and move things far above the legal limit, like the Nika bunkbed in 5 boxes longer then your body each box weighing between 100-150pounds. -they basically throw the forklift license at you Their big sales usually are just the 50% off the bundle price so if a pillow is regularly $80 for one or 2 for 120. The Sale price is 120/2 so its $60. and realistically you are going to buy two pillows anyways so you are spending the same amount of money. I will never shop in these stores again.
