Pros

--The Hyatt "family" really is a thing. Every company in the service industry talks about how their company is like family, but Hyatt actually is. People smile and greet you in the hallway, remember your name and what you've shared with them. --It was nice to come into work every day and see the same people; something rare for the service industry. --Pay was above minimum wage which is incredibly rare in Orlando. --Generally good people in all departments. --Free generic breakfast/lunch/dinner and leftover goodies from catered events.

Cons

--Hard hours, even for the hospitality industry; 2PM-10PM one day, 6AM-2PM the next. --No room for advancement; you can ask to be cross-trained for basic hourly functions, but you will never, ever, be trained or educated on anything above your pay-grade. Good luck moving up without having years of experience outside the company. --Management across the board will tell you that Hyatt is all about encouraging its employees to learn and grow, but then tell you in the same sentence that there isn't any training available. There's always a different reason, but ultimately you'll be told to just hold out for an opportunity to open up. They know that most of their employees are good people who don't want to push boundaries, and they rely on that. Easier to retain employees if they believe your empty promises. --HR is the epitome of what you *don't* want HR to be. Super friendly-looking, always upbeat and excited... Until you have a concern or want to ask a question, of course. I thought maybe my experience was unique, but then I talked with multiple people who've been at the property for years and learned that they choose to work daily with harassment/mistreatment/incorrect benefits instead of going to HR. If you do decide to go to HR, be prepared to be accused of lying or making a big deal out of nothing, regardless of whether you had a minor complaint or were assaulted by a guest.

Pros

Great work environment, team was helpful and really nice, workload wasn’t overwhelming

Cons

Didn’t feel super included on the team as a contractor, expectations were consistently unclear, they tell you it’s temp to perm, but could be years before a permanent role is available
