Pros

Amazing beloved brands, and top-notch digital properties. Looks fantastic on a resume. And a gorgeous office in NYC full of amenities! “My friends were jealous,” but then again Hearst relies on that to underpay and mistreat young employees.

Cons

Cut throat culture between various business units and sometimes even within own team. Traditional print advertising is drying up and Hearst continues to under-monetize their beautiful digital properties by 1) internally cannibalizing business based on politics between teams 2) pricing absurdly high and 3) not being creative in the types of advertisers they will work with. Workers are extremely unhappy and the environment is negative each day.

Pros

Well-organized and good communication. As a contractor, I found Hearst to be a pleasure to work with.

Cons

I don't have any cons to report other than that the accounts payable is out of North Carolina and can take 60 days to receive payment.
