Pros

The tower in Columbus Circle is the most beautiful place I've ever worked. The natural light – it is leed-certified – makes an enormous difference. I have worked with the company off and on over the years, and I accepted my last full-time gig there based on the cafeteria alone. This is a very corporate environment, but everything depends on the particular group you work in. There are some extraordinarily lovely human beings in this company. Abigail Greene, who has been with the company for 15 or 20 years, is a goddess.

Cons

Hours can be brutal. Salaries tend to be low. One gets the sense that the company can keep celery slow because it attracts a certain demographic – those with trust funds – of employee. Who don't need to be properly paid.

Pros

Well-organized and good communication. As a contractor, I found Hearst to be a pleasure to work with.

Cons

I don't have any cons to report other than that the accounts payable is out of North Carolina and can take 60 days to receive payment.
