Pros

You will get some hands on experience and will develop a temperament to work in long hours and high stress conditions.

Cons

The company has become managers company. The managers look after their pay check and that's about it. They do not even care about anyone else. Highly recommended to people, especially young professionals to find a job somewhere else. Only consider this company if you cannot find a job anywhere else. From outside, these companies look great but you will only get to know the real story once you become a part of them. Highly recommended to youth to have a career somewhere else as people who have already invested many years of their life in oil industry have no other option but to work as slave for these companies. I highly recommend young professionals to find a job away from these big oil service companies.

Pros

Great experience, especially if just starting out in oil and gas industry. Lots of industry-leading equipment/tech/etc.

Cons

If you can't handle long hours, harsh conditions (at times), and being away from home for long periods of time, this job isn't for you. My experience at Halliburton was also that many people feel like they're just a number in that management will make frequent (and often sweeping) changes to processes, workflows, engineering schedules, etc. Lots of bureaucratic hoops to jump through in order to advance through the three levels of Field Engineer before you can "break out" and really make good money.
