Pros

Grifols Emeryville offers great work life balance. The atmosphere is generally low stress as the processes are fairly simple and straightforward. There are plenty of smart people who are mostly easy to work with. Also the cafeteria is excellent.

Cons

Any major decision (promotions, hirings, anything budget related) must go through Barcelona. This means things like adding needed headcount can take months and advancement is really a crapshoot (promotions can get local approval then sit indefinitely). We are all at the mercy of who dont seem to understand what we do or what kind of investment is necessary. I question the business sense of upper management as they speak of expanding our output while not investing any more money into us. Seems they would rather spend money acquiring companies instead. Another side effect of this is that pay/benefits/perks are not on par with the rest of the bay area. This costs us talent. Lastly, the IT group is beyond incompetent. Dealing with them makes the DMV look like a trip to the spa.

Pros

Good for phlebotomy experience Meet interesting people Learn to keep plates spinning Good health benefits, but not enough to outweigh the health impacts Learn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment

Cons

Have to unlearn working in a high-stress fast-paced work environment High school drama and toxicity, management is the prom king/queen Cliquey dramatic management team Reneged agreements Playing favorites, rules for thee but not for me Private employee info gets spread, often by those who are relied upon to keep it private No work life balance or boundaries, and it's an admitted and perpetually unaddressed fault Have to be made to feel guilty for wanting to leave production, get a break, or go to the bathroom High turnover "Is everyone else working as hard as I am?",-Everyone, and eventually you
