Cons
One of the biggest and concerning issues I experienced was the handling of a Non-Compete Agreement (NCA) introduced post contractual after I had already been promoted and working in the role. The agreement included very broad restrictions and a clause allowing the company to unilaterally decide whether to enforce it and compensate for it or not at the very last minute while still limiting the employee’s future career options. When I raised concerns about the fairness and legal basis of the agreement, I experienced significant pressure from HR (People Team) to sign it, including suggestions and threats that my role or salary could be affected if I refused, which is illegal in Spain for such case. This created a sense of coercion rather than an open discussion. Words like "There is no escape", "Your are the only one not signing this in the company", "We might need to demote you if this is not signed" were used to enforce the NCA. I didn't sign it and nothing happened as there was no legal basis to enforce it. The situation was never meaningfully addressed and no accountability or apology followed. The experience left me feeling that HR processes can prioritize enforcing not so complaint policies over fair dialogue with employees, which ultimately contributed to my decision to leave after four years.
