In one year as a sensor operator I've gone from the Atlantic to the Pacific and a lot of cool places in between for field work. Working in aviation can be a lot of fun and excitement.
You get paid over time if you work over 40 hrs in a week. This is where the money is made in this job.
Cons
You get sent out on field work with little warning, everything is weather dependent so when there is good weather coming you are expected to be ready at the drop of a hat. When there is no field work, office work can be extremely slow, there isn't much for operators to do around the office other than house keeping chores.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review about your time as a Field Ops Specialist. I know the travelling can be difficult and we are grateful for your hard work. Unfortunately one of the aspects of this position is the reality that jobs come up at a moment's notice and can only be flown in the right conditions. What you are doing is very important to the growth and expansion of our business. That being said, we want to make improvements where we can and I would love to hear more about your experience so we can keep improving. Please feel free to email me at geomnihr@xactware.com. Thanks!
There are some really smart people that work here. Along with some smart people there are some really great people to work with and a lot to learn from. The on-site gym is nice and covered parking is great. Management tries hard and it’s visible the effort they put forward. If you get a job and you like it there, your position is reliably stable.
Cons
Even though there are some smart people who are great to work with, there’s enough others that make it really difficult to achieve progress. Management knows there are issues with the company but their solution is to create protocols to follow and then sometimes as soon as the next day, the new protocols don’t matter because management has one reason after another not to follow them anymore and it’s a very circular pattern with progress where you find yourself in the same situation over and over again. This company has great potential which alludes to the idea that if you stick around things will get better but all the issues this company has are slivers never get resolved. The director of development will change your title and responsibilities on a regular basis but will not give you a raise. There was also a time where the company gave source code to another company.

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for responding so late. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to help us understand what we can do better as a company, and also letting us know what we are already doing well. We're sorry to hear that you have hit some roadblocks in your time here as a Developer. In the last 6 months we have grown significantly, adding key team members that have helped keep our projects and processes more organized. We have also worked hard to clarify individual career paths that allow for long term success and growth. Please feel free to reach out to me at geomnihr@xactware.com if there is additional feedback or any other follow up information you have that can help us improve further. Thanks!
