Pros
Pretty good benefits package I.e., medical, dental,401k
Cons
The FedEx slogan of People, Service, Profit is nothing more than meaningless propaganda. It really is only about profit and service. Turn over is very high for a job that doesn't require any special skills. They will work you to the bone. Pay is sub-par, raises are empty promises. Training is minmal so you will pretty much be on your own and very frustrated. Don't count on your managers to give advise or instruction without a write up. Managers in my station were knuckleheads. I had 5 managers and two senior managers in the 2 years I worked there and the quality was very poor. We never had enough trucks to assign routes, never enough drivers to fill routes. Days off were constantly canceled. If you called in sick you were chastised even if you had a doctors excuse. I worked on average 12 to 13 hours a day 5 to six days a week! I was supposed to be working 4/10's. There is very little opportunity for advancement and pay increases, well I didn't see one and senior drivers said it had been a long time. The moral at my station sucked. Management is not at all concerned with employee welfare. They are only concerned with making "buckets" to ensure their bonuses, which hourly employees never see. I can't imagine how anyone can make a career as a courier with fedex. Fortunately I had other options.
