Pros

Fastenal is essentially what one makes it. Whatever you put into your career, is what you will most likely get out of it. As time goes on, opportunities are always presenting themselves to grow and there's always an opportunity to learn in sales and customer service, supply chain, inventory, etc.

Cons

Being understaffed and feeling overworked is the norm, especially in an onsite role. If you're considering an onsite role, understand that you are the team. If you don't hit and/or maintain the numbers necessary or project growth (and actually grow), understand that the workload is going to be carried by you...that the ship sinks or sails based on you.

Pros

Lots of responsibility. Decentralized company, which can work in your favor.

Cons

Pay is low based on competitors. Politics, lots of it. Cost-centers everywhere. Everyone has to make money off the branches: the hub, NA, regions, support, etc. Being a GM is probably one of the hardest jobs. Your job on the lean team is to support NA and the branch. It is hard to fully support both at the same time. It is a balancing act that frequently is blamed on you. Frequently, your coworkers just want to put their name on your work and create problems because of their egos.
