Pros

- Incredibly mature internship program. I had a great experience as a TDP intern and that only continued in full time. - In Technology at least, really talented staff. In my current role, I get to see a lot of other Fortune 500 tech departments - Capital One's is heads and shoulders above every other one with regards to culture, unified vision, and abilities. Very youthful energy. - Super benefits, 401k match is great, above average vacation, employee stock purchase program - No babysitting in my experience (YMMV) and not a tech sweat shop - I clocked out at or just under 40 hours nearly every week. - Invested in your growth - whatever you need from certifications to video lessons is provided. - I found it to be an inclusive environment. I have a disability and never felt like I would be punished for my bad days.

Cons

- No office in the city I wanted to move back to :( - Promotion system is too much about how many people will stick up for you in cross calibrations from past interactions rather than your actual delivery. Had talented coworkers get absolutely screwed because their roles weren't as customer-facing.

Pros

Some of the smartest individuals in their fields. The focus is always “forward” and the company is willing to adopt new tech to stay ahead for the purposes of the company’s (key word there) benefit. Great PTO and benefits.

Cons

The company’s drive to keep itself moving forward has caused it to regress in other aspects. As a leading tech company first, and leading bank second, it’s embarrassing what their stance is on hybrid and remote work. The company can easily accommodate remote options for their employees not near main offices, but chooses not to. I am relocating to a major city with no major CapOne presence and their response was “too bad, either fly up weekly or you’ll be terminated for not meeting the hybrid requirements”. It’s embarrassing because most of my week is remote anyways. I wonder how many current and past employees have been impacted, and I’m worried about how much talent they’ll be pushing away in the coming years.
