Pros

Some of the greatest colleagues who become friends for life

Cons

my experience took a negative turn after I returned from maternity leave. Upon my return, I was unexpectedly demoted from my position, without clear explanation or justification. I was reassigned to an administrative role, a significant step backward in both responsibility and professional development. This shift in role felt like a direct consequence of my maternity leave and underscored a lack of support for working mothers at CBRE. The company’s treatment of employees returning from parental leave highlights a broader issue of gender inequality—where taking maternity leave seemed to result in an automatic devaluation of my skills and professional experience, despite my proven track record prior to my leave. Unfortunately, my experience at CBRE reflected a larger pattern of how women, particularly mothers, are often penalized in the workplace when it comes to career advancement. The lack of flexibility and understanding in supporting employees returning from maternity leave suggests that CBRE has not fully embraced the principles of equality and inclusivity. A company that values diversity and growth should ensure that all employees, regardless of gender or parental status, are given the same opportunities to thrive.

Thanks for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. CBRE takes great pride in upholding the highest ethical and professional standards. We are also strong supporters of working parents, including providing flexibility, a variety of family-friendly benefits, assistance to those who want to grow their family through adoption or surrogacy, and parenting resources and support. The experience you’ve described is inconsistent with our values and culture, and you have raised some concerns that we want to learn more about. We encourage you to report these issues through our confidential Ethics HelpLine at https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/7298/index.html.

Pros

Honestly? Not much. The vision insurance was decent, I guess. Truthfully though, there wasn't much.

Cons

Management's refusal to allow employees freedom. I routinely got praise from the client and hit the maximum score on my goals. If things weren't done "by the book", they were wrong. The health insurance was awful. Going to self-employment, one of the things that you hear is that you're going to pay a lot for health insurance. However, I'm actually paying LESS than when I worked for CBRE. When you work for CBRE, don't consider job security something that you're going to have. I saw two employees with 15+ years for the company get laid off, with zero severance and no option to transfer elsewhere, unless they wanted to uproot their families and move states for more work and a pay cut. This is the worst company that I've ever had the displeasure to work for. If you have literally any other option of employment, please consider doing that.
