Pros

Working at Best Buy gives you the ability to stay up to date on the latest and greatest that technology has to offer. Also the employee discount on some products is very good. But being in a non-commissioned sales environment is beneficial to perfecting your people skills and how to negotiate with people. You also get to learn how to work in an environment where you have to rely on your fellow employees to help you accomplish your goals. You have job security being that Best Buy is the number one consumer electronics company in the world, the even have their own NASCAR Driver. Some other good reasons to work at Best Buy is that there are great opportunities to advance. Every year new stores are opening and that means more management staff is required and also district and territories either are expanding or being created which means higher level/ higher paying jobs are being created as well.

Cons

Some of the downsides to working at Best Buy is having to put up with ignorant, rude, idiotic customers. The old saying "the customer's always right" is usually followed sadly. Some people just don't deserve a 10% off discount because they shop at Best Buy 3 times a year and spend 200 dollars there. To many customers come in thinking that they are entitled to a discount when in fact they aren't, since employees are not commissioned based we can't just give people a discount. another downside is that some of the people in charge are stupid. Also even though you are not paid commission sometimes the sales floor is treated as if you are commission based, and if you don't attach everything than you aren't doing a good enough job. Some good salesmen get promoted to positions of authority and sadly they can not execute those jobs well at all.

Pros

No pros. Just don’t work here.

Cons

This job adds little to no value, either for customers or for career growth. The primary focus is pushing credit cards and memberships that many customers don’t actually need, making the work feel repetitive and unfulfilling. The workplace culture and management are poor, and employees are often assigned busywork instead of meaningful responsibilities. There is almost no opportunity to develop product knowledge or apply any technical or electronics skills. Even the sales experience is limited since the role revolves around following scripted pitches rather than building genuine sales or customer relationship skills. Overall, it’s not a strong entry-level position for someone looking to develop transferable skills. There are many other jobs that provide better learning opportunities, stronger career growth, and more valuable real-world experience.
