Pros

A lot of things to learn and a smaller company feel. Some people don’t like that, but I don’t think it’s terrible. A lot of days it feels like you are an actor playing corporate employee it is laid on so thick. Great chance to learn about what fuels the technological world we live in and technology we use on a daily basis. Great chance to implement processes and dip toes into working with larger companies. If you are into account management, will be up your alley.

Cons

Can feel directionless if you weren’t “raised Belden,” ie no family members to show you the ropes. So much potential to earn more business but also a lot of red tape, informational silos, hoarding of info by more tenured folks (understandable), and unconscious bias that leads to a more intense in grouping (there goes that small biz feel again!) phenomenon. Keep an open mind though, and realize that loyalty is often the name of the game in industries like these, and it can get easy to work around or through. Often feels as if extracting info from coworkers to take credit for business in their region or create alliances or drama in the office is the currency some days. If you’re mature enough to ignore and look past all the weird stuff like any job has (some people get too caught up on that), and work remotely, you will survive.
