Pros

Supportive and collaborative colleagues within my immediate team. Positive interactions and cooperation with other teams across the business. Certain projects and tasks can be interesting and engaging.

Cons

No formal training or onboarding support, which makes role development challenging. It is left to the current members of the team to train the new members rather than management doing their job. My direct manager does not consistently follow the company’s hybrid work policy, which creates a lack of accountability. As a team we get told off but it's one rule for them and another for us. Promotions appear to be based on favouritism rather than merit, with a large number of applicants competing for very limited opportunities. Managerial style is confrontational, often addressing issues via email or messages rather than through constructive in-person conversations. Concerns around transparency, as work responsibilities are sometimes misrepresented to senior leadership. Every individual in the team has been victim to these aggressions from our manager. Excessive micromanagement, with focus placed on Teams status rather than actual work output. No wellbeing support initiatives or allocated budget for team social activities, despite a stated “collaboration culture.” Flexible working arrangements are not genuinely supported; strict interpretation of the 3-day office average policy creates unnecessary pressure. High turnover — almost half of the original team has left in the past 2.5 years, largely since the change in management. Compensation is below market expectations. Management appears to discourage close working relationships among team members, potentially to prevent group cohesion against leadership decisions. It's got to the point where we are having to take a group approach to express the severity. Issues raised to senior management regarding team leadership are not addressed, leading to frustration and disengagement. A team member has left due to workplace bullying, which was not adequately handled. Internal mobility is extremely difficult; application processes are unnecessarily lengthy and restrictive, even for qualified candidates.
