No professional growth progression. You're tasked to a client from anywhere up to a few weeks to a few years at one particular client. I only stepped into the office twice in my 5+ years of working with them -- once when they interviewed me, and once to sign on. Definitely a hardware telecomms shop that once tried to branch out into the custom software and services world but failed due to management and domain knowledge. They ended up acquiring other companies which succeeded in this market, but those single-site companies had no idea on how to work when resources are distributed globally.
