Pros

Fine place to work at for a bit if you get the boss, but everyone agrees it's slowly going down hill. Flexible working is embedded and respected. Good work-life balance Work can be interesting if it's your thing. Load of smart, highly qualified people people working here that will push you, if you're lucky Some Director's are great and create a good team culture. Nice, new offices in major UK cities

Cons

BT feels quite dystopian at times. It's such a large corporate that you really are just a number. Sure, they'll say a bunch of nice sounding crap but none of it is backed up by action. Everything they do is determined by short-term market pressures. Talks about "attracting and retaining the best talent", yet enforces real-term pay cuts for middle grades with below inflation pay rises each year. BT is actively passing rising costs onto its employees. For example, the Government NI increase was passed straight through, as is cost inflation... yet BT's retail prices for customers always increase in line with inflation. Funny that. Restructures also happen all over the place, all the time, without an obvious strategy. You'll never feel safe in your job. People you get used to working with just one day 'exit the company'. Constant cost cutting means perks are watered down or taken away. Talks about "One BT" but lots of political infighting makes getting work done difficult. If you need help from someone in another Unit, be prepared to be flat out ignored, They'll then try to throw you under the bus somewhere down the line when they realise it was important and they should've been involved in the first place. Talks about "inclusivity and diversity" yet promotions are normally awarded to the same highly political characters with aggressive work styles and huge egos. If you're outside of London, forget it - all the best jobs are increasingly being centralised. The list goes on...

Pros

Benefits are better than most US companies. You get twice or triple the numbers of days off per year.

Cons

Focus is more on originating company location for group events and emails. Due to time zone differences, it can be difficult to work with others without adjusting your schedule. It is difficult to get promoted outside originating country. Roles are few and far between in the US.
