Great company with so many opportunites - Senior Consultant Amazon Web Services Employee Review

Pros

The Leadership Principals are not just words. They are the culture at Amazon. Fluid environment is the perfect landing spot for the self-driven, growth-minded person looking for a dynamic, flexible environment to add value and do meaningful work. The benefits and compensation are generous and the growth potential is extremely high. There are many resources, collaboration opportunites and flexible boundaries to solve problems creatively. Things move and change at a very fast pace so boredom is not an issue. The company invests in new employees by allowing them a generous 3 months to train, learn and adjust before being put into active duty. Virtual work with an option to go into the office at will. IDE , Sustainbility, and Mental Health & Wellbeing are all huge here.

Cons

So far, there aren't many cons. Because things move so quickly, some internal systems are not yet created. Rapid change can cause mis-alignment and confusion at times, but not insurmountable. Fluid environment would not be the right place for someone looking for a highly structured, rule-minded role.

Pros

Strong engineering culture, competitive pay, great learning opportunities, and excellent internal mobility across teams.

Cons

Work-life balance can be tough, on-call rotations are demanding, and the pace is fast with high expectations.

Pros

Ambitious projects if you're in the right team. Typically great team-mates. Don't believe the memes, the ppl are not back stabbing jerks but are overall genuinely nice. Not constrained by budgets when building cool things. Tools while sometimes clunky are powerful.

Cons

Schizophrenic lack of focus, entire teams get split, merged and upended multiple times a quarter. Some product managers are disconnected from reality. It didn't use to be the case, the PM-Ts were previously top notch. You're pushed to vibe code everything. Established products with loyal customers are getting neglected. Newer VP level leaders don't seem to know what they are doing. Veteran OG VP level leaders are either leaving in droves or seem stressed or checked out.
