Pros

Transparently I was between putting 2 or 3 stars. 2 feels a bit too harsh and 3 feels too passive. Compensation (and a leadership team that is continually reviewing comp. packages to make them more competitive). "Fun" Culture: young employee base that lends itself to fun events and perks, but this also comes with Cons (see Cons section). Development Opportunities: Whether you decide to go for manager or not, you can focus on developing the skills that you want to make applicable for future jobs/roles. Solid PTO/Vacation: Great move by management to grant the new years week off. Plenty of PTO and no problems taking it. In this role, you need it. Cool office space is a perk, if that matters to you. If you know what you're getting into, you might like the job. A few quick things to know: AlphaSights is NOT consulting. It is a service provider for people seeking industry insights. You will not gain "consulting" experience. Why AlphaSights continues to market themselves in that way confuses me.

Cons

Little-to-no control over placement: When you join AlphaSights, you are haphazardly placed on one of their client segments. When I connected with colleagues on different segments, it seemed that their experiences were quite different in terms of working hours, Client demand, etc. You can also be moved off your team unexpectedly if another account needs more Associates. Extremely Monotonous & Unfulfilling/Thankless Work: Yes, you "work" in many different industries, but with the company's current objectives, the job really just becomes a quantity game. Some of the most successful associates (based on performance metrics) will tell you that it's a waste of time to dive into the subject fields at hand and instead you need to learn to multitask... basically if you can become a robot that can talk on the phone, email, and draft documents simultaneously then you have a good shot at high performance. The clients you are servicing are often under INTENSE pressure and that trickles back to the AlphaSights associate. Working Hours: 8am starts are both somewhat useless and fully unenjoyable. While you might work 8am-6pm the intensity of those hours are worse than what your friends going into "more rigorous" industries will endure. You'll more often be working 8am-6:30pm or 7:00pm (and some people worked later but I always took the liberty of not despite a touch of pressure). Leadership + "Fun" / Young Culture: The leadership structure at AlphaSights is, in my opinion, finally catching up to itself. While senior leadership is very capable, there are now ~8 senior leaders that are now responsible for overseeing a massive cohort of Managers that are 24-26 and only have professional experience at AlphaSights. When the company was smaller, senior leaders likely had more of a guiding hand and influence over this cohort but the scale and sheer size of the company feels like its getting to a place that requires more experienced middle management as well. Poor Diversity: There is an "emphasis" on diversity but it still felt like 99% of my colleagues came from the same background/same schools etc. I know they are making strides in this area but as of today it is still lacking.

We appreciate your review, and have addressed some of your feedback below. We make clear in our company materials and throughout the interview process that this is not a consulting role. Our industry is a high-performance environment, and we work in client services. Our associates add a lot of value to our clients' projects, and this requires repetition, high-frequency project work, and a commitment to learning new skills on the job. We understand that the intensity of the work can make the hours feel challenging, and that this role is not for everyone. We appreciate your feedback and wish you the best in the next step in your career. - The AlphaSights Team

Pros

Rapid Progression & Recognition: Performance is directly rewarded here. If you hit your goals and show drive, the path to promotion and career growth is transparent and fast. Strong Team Culture: The team energy is fantastic. Everyone is highly collaborative, supportive, and commercially minded, which makes for a great working environment. High Autonomy: From day one, you are given real ownership over your projects (like leading recruitment events, managing candidates, and driving partnerships), allowing you to grow your commercial skills rapidly.

Cons

High Velocity & Pressure: The work is very fast-paced with strict timelines and high-volume expectations. It is not a place where you can coast, and you need to be comfortable working under commercial pressure. Resilience is Key: Sourcing and recruiting require a great deal of resilience. You have to be comfortable with rejection and persistent in finding creative solutions to hit your targets.
