Pros

Culture of appreciation Flexible work arrangements Fantastic work/ life balance You really see how a company treats employees when times are tough. During hurricane Sandy, employee safety was the top priority. No one was penalized for being unable to work. When it was over, employees who had suffered major property loss or damaged were offered additional assistance, including home depot gift cards in extremely generous amounts. Most inspiring of all, was the way colleagues banded together and those with power and heat opened their homes to those that did not. When you work at American Express, you work with family.

Cons

American Express is a nice culture, the ugly side of that coin is passive aggressiveness. At times, it can seem as if there is a popularity contest going on, and if you're not popular you're not getting promoted as quickly.

Pros

-Collaborative people depending on which business unit you’re in -great work life balance

Cons

-The best leaders’ teams and most competitive teams require a lot of political play to get into -“take your career into your own hands” mentality rather than true investment in internal talent from the top down at times
