The people are great but the bureaucracy can kill you.

Pros

The amazing colleagues you're guaranteed to have, the benefits, and location in the city.

Cons

Despite a motto of transparency - most things are opaque at Elsevier. Additionally, the core focus is a revenue goal - not the customers or employees - the general work ethic is to stay until the work is completed pitting individuals against each other and creating a caustic environment.

Pros

*Worldwide company *Constantly improving as a company *Many different department and career opportunities within the company *Professional atmosphere *Diverse staff

Cons

*Business is business, it's all about the almighty dollar in the end....employees cut according to the bottom line even after years of service *It seems like there are too many initiatives-a week celebrating this value or that value, etc. Just let us work without the distractions.

Pros

Wonderful colleagues who are highly dedicated and competent. Conveniently located offices. Regular employee opinion surveys (however, these have never been tangibly acted on despite the heat and noise generated).

Cons

Hasn't changed in its rather dismissive treatment of its staff. Either you work in a department where your job security changes with the wind or you're locked into your role with no chance of career development. Generally, below inflation pay rises mean salaries constantly fall in real terms.
