Pros

Great opportunity to network with good caliber accounting professionals. One of the big four Looks good on your resume Great learning opportunity

Cons

Deficiencies in training exist at too many levels. Management has difficulty clearly enunciating expectations. When ambiguous expectations are not met, staff is made accountable while management counsels staff as if expectations were clear and were simply unmet because of lack of initiative, skill or expertise of untrained staff. I found my immediate management dishonest lacking integrity to principle and ethics. Archaic environment exists regarding minorities, religious diversity and women. I found staff and management condescending, patronizing and generally unappreciative of hard work and long hours dedicated to providing good quality work products. Partners so impressed with themselves and stepping over their own egos that they had difficulty focusing on truly important business objectives. Management's shallow and superficial mindset was reflected in being primarily interested in a select few that met their exclusive interests. Those exclusive few and blessed ones were targeted for growth and learning opportunities. I wonder how E&Y will be able to survive and thrive in a global and diverse economy with such narrow mindsets.
