Pros
Very large organisation, means that there are alot of technologies that you are likely to come across because of it's size. A good place to get exposure to a diverse ranges of environments because of the number of staff, diversity of countries and requirements. The size of the organisation also means to you have strong contacts with suppliers to gain information and access that you wouldn't otherwise have. Very supportive of work life balance and the need to work remotely ortake time off for person reasons or holidays.
Cons
Within the IT division there are very limited opportunities for progression. Dependant on you team there are very low levels of recognition from mid/senior management. The performance review process is treated by most as an unnecessary procedure, even if a high grade is received there is little likelihood of financial reward. Quite a few decisions are made by senior management that appear illogical and short sighted without providing any reasoning. Hard to push ideas/initiatives up to management and win support. Limited support for formal training.
