SENIOR IN-HOUSE TRANSLATOR - MADRID

Pros

I learned so much, the job was like a Master's degree program. Our work was valued and very technical. They fired the entire team to surpass budget and distribute more cash among the partners.

Cons

EY Spain no longer values cutting-edge (or even native) translation; they consider themselves "bilingual" thanks to a few years of classes or perhaps a week spent in Ireland. Often their new approach is to bash out their own texts, expecting nothing more than a quick review. Some of the partners/managers are aware that financial/accounting etc. translation is terribly demanding and requires seasoned professionals, while many more simply do not seem to care, preferring to save the extra cash for themselves.
